Webelos (4th and 5th Grade)

Webelos is a two year program for 4th and 5th grade boys. In the first year, the Webelos will complete adventures to earn his Webelos rank. During the second year, the scout will work toward earning his Arrow of Light. Before a scout can work on any adventures, he must first earn his Bobcat badge.

Throughout the Webelos program, the scout is further refining skills learned in previous ranks and learning new skills that will prepare him for his transition into Boy Scouts. During the two year program, a gradual change will occur where the den transitions from an adult-lead den to a scout-lead patrol. Webelos scouts will gradually take more control in decision-making and responsibilities in completing adventures.

Webelos will work toward earning their Webelos rank by the end of 4th grade. In order for a Webelos Scout to earn his rank, he must complete 7 adventures and be an active member of his den for at least 3 months. Webelos will start to work on their Arrow of Light in 5th grade. It is no longer required for a Webelos Scout to earn the Webelos rank before earning the Arrow of Light. To earn the Arrow of Light, a Webelos must remain active for 6 months and must complete 7 adventures.
